What We Believe

The visible church is plagued by two extremes.  One is liberalism - a lack of belief in what the Bible says.  Liberalism discounts miracles, it renders the Word of God as mere parables, and it trades Biblical faith for social responsibility.  The other extreme - legalism - claims to believe what the Bible says, but adds rules and standards which the Bible does not address.

At Word of Truth we believe the Bible from beginning to end, and with God as our help, we try never to go beyond what it says.  So, what does that mean?  We are concerned with introducing the lost to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and we want to disciple the saints to grow in grace.  We are NOT interested in monitoring and managing what you wear or how your hair is cut.  We believe parents can raise their children as they see fit, while we teach what the Bible says about the matter.  We want for ourselves and others to become more like Christ, not more like us.  We do not idolize a mere man; we seek to follow Christ.  Will you join us on the journey?

The Book

We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God and that it is the rule of faith and practice for born-again Christians.  It is God's means of communicating His salvation to man (Romans 10:17).  This Book has withstood every challenge made to its authenticity and authority.  We believe the King James version is the Word of God for English-speaking people.

The Blood

The Bible is clear throughout the Old and New Testaments that God demands a blood sacrifice for sin.  In the Old Testament, the blood of bulls and goats foreshadowed the blood of Christ, which is the agent of salvation for all who believe on Him (Revelation 1:5).

The Blessed Hope

Christ will return for His church in an event known variously as the blessed hope (Titus 2:13) or the rapture of the church (1 Corinthians 15:51-58 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
