Ministry Opportunities

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good; ... for God was with him. - Acts 10:38

Here are some ministry opportunities that our church will explore as led by the Holy Ghost, and under his power to go about doing good, following the example of our Lord and Saviour. It is our desire to have God with us in each endeavor.

     1. Adopted Grandpa and Grandma—Churches are often blessed by having a “church grandfather” or “grandmother,” an elderly person or persons who can use some help and who in turn can be blessing by their godly attitudes. (Jam es 1:27)
     2. Churchbringers—This is an opportunity for all of our children to minister in song and the Word by bringing “church” to the afflicted, sickly, elderly, and shut-ins. This will be coordinated with the pastor. (James 1:27)
     3. Community Involvement—Be on the look out for community projects such as cleaning up an area of town, raking widows yards or planting flowers at Gazebos and parks, etc., that can use volunteers. In this way the community will be able to see our families working together. Many people will be amazed if they can see us laboring with our young people if we can maintain our testimony. This will provide opportunities for witness and deflecting the glory back to God.
     4. Correspondence with Missionaries—Our missions displays contain the name, address and email addresses for our missionaries. Just by setting aside a small amount of time weekly, you can be a great blessing to these servants with just a short note, a quick call, or perhaps a gift. (Acts 13:1-4; Gal 6:10)
     5. Helping Hands—By talking to others and looking around the church, the Lord may show you how you can be a blessing to another family—through cleaning a home or yard, making a meal, fixing a roof, paying a bill or baby-sitting. Keep your eyes open—at times there will be a note in the church bulletin. (Luke 14:12-14)
     6. Hospital Visits—Once we are aware of someone being in the hospital for an extended stay or ill at home for an extended period, we try to get the word out to the congregation so that you might be an encouragement to them. You may have the opportunity to minister to others through song and testimony once you are there. (James 1:27)
     7. Hospitality—Are you given to hospitality? You may see that a family is struggling, or new to our church. By inviting these people into your home for a prayer meeting, dessert, meal or fellowship, you can be an encouragement to them to do the same. Along with this atmosphere of Christian fellowship, we endeavor to give our children a good example to follow. We can teach them to be aware of others needs, to assist new Christian’s foundation and to become an overall testimony of hospitality. (1 Pet 4:9; Rom 12:13)
     8. Messages from Young Men—Every so often, we would like to give the opportunity for a boy in his teenage years to have an opportunity to share a message that the Lord has given him with the congregation. The sermon will last 5-10 minutes.
     9. Missions Trips—We try to encourage our families to plan to take a vacation and be a blessing to a missionary on the field or to a church planter by going and laboring with them. We know that this can be expensive for the entire family, so occasionally the pastor will take teens who may be interested in a missions trip.
     10. Nursing Homes—There are a number of nursing homes in our area, who typically welcome folks coming in to be a blessing to those staying with them. This provides a great opportunity to share a word from the scriptures with them or to encourage and minister to them in song. If you or your family would like to do something in this area please let the pastor know.
     11. WTBC Orchestra—If you play an instrument and are a church member, you can accompany our congregational singing along with the other musicians. You should be practicing your instrument during the week to stay as proficient as possible. Contact the pastor if you are interested in this ministry area.
     12. Special music—If you have a servants heart and would like to occasionally provide special music and are willing to submit yourself and your songs to the authority of the pastor or his designees, there are opportunities to minister in song.
     13. Soul-winning & Tract Distribution—We hope that you are a soul-winner at times, but we also have scheduled opportunities to minister as a group. We will attend public events that provide opportunity for tract distribution as well as doing door-to-door evangelism. Be on the look out for places to pass out gospel tracts.
     14. Workdays—We from time to time will schedule workdays at the church to take care of cleaning, remodeling, etc. This is an opportunity for you to minister to the entire congregation and our visitors by providing a comfortable and safe place for them to meet.
      15. Nursery—Our nursery is a place where our ladies who have a servants heart minister not only to moms and their children who are under 4 years old, but to the rest of the church ladies as they share the burden of this ministry together. If all cooperate no one should be over burdened.
